Throughout my experience at Western Washington University, I have had an immense number of people who come into my life and changed it for the better, and without them, I would not be where I am today.
- My parents, who supported me through college and made everything that I have accomplished possible.
- Aunt LaRae and Uncle Jason, without whom I could not have stayed encouraged and focused.
- All of my past roommates for putting up with my social justice rants and long nights trying to hastily finish papers.
- My cousin, Abigail, who inadvertently encourages me to be a better person and follow my passion.
- My internship supervisors, Lindsay Anderson, Marylynn Fiscus and Aramis Johnson, for being a mentor through my field experiences.
- All of my HSP professors that have guided and supported me through my learning as well as my life.
- Everyone in my program, even the ones I don't know, for sharing your inspirations with others and following your passions.
And a special thanks to the individuals below, I could never thank them enough, but I'll start here.
Colleen McCourt- When we moved into the dorms our freshman year, I had no idea who she was. Much to my surprise, she became my best friend and showed me undying love and support. She has empowered and encouraged me, and because of that I have been able to open doors I never thought were possible. My ideas about life and the capacity to care and love have been completely changed, and I thank her immensely for that. The last three years have been a roller coaster, and without Colleen by my side through it all, I'm certain that I would not be here.
Sabrina Sanchez- As one of the first people I met at Western, she is also one I look up to the most. With her kind soul, she helped guide me through my first years here, and without her I don't know where I would be today. She made me feel welcome and at home at The INN, where I found love and compassion, and she introduced me to the Human Services Program, and for that I am extremely grateful. Without Sabby's guidance, I would not have discovered my passion for Human Services.
John Korsmo- My first year in the Human Services Program was a rough one, for many reasons. Maybe it's because he were my first core teacher, but he played an extremely important role in my journey through this program. Even when he was no longer my professor, he still acted as a mentor to me. I'm not sure what all I can say that he haven't heard already from other students, but simply put: I have enjoyed learning under John's instruction, letting him into my life and allowing him to guide me into areas I never thought I could enter.
My entire Junior Core.
Without their love and support, I would have been lost these last two years.
I greatly value each one of them, and am eternally grateful that I got the
opportunity to walk this journey along side all of them.
Thank you for your support, your insight, and your readiness to share.
