Please allow me to introduce myself.
My name is Erin Hawkins. I grew up in many different places throughout my life due to my father being in the military, but I finally settled in Washington with my mother at the age of 11. Upon graduating from Lake Stevens High School, I moved up to Bellingham and started my new life at Western Washington University. I originally attended thinking I would become an art major, but after considering several ideas, I finally applied to the Human Services program.
Since entering into this program, I have developed as a person far more than I ever expected. I discovered passions, hopes, dreams, and fears that I never knew I had. Best of all, I discovered my potential as a caregiver and my confidence has blossomed immensely.
Over the last year, I have found my passion for counseling high school students. I have concentrated on depression and anxiety in adolescents. Currently, I am working at Squalicum High School under the guidance of their head counselor, Aramis Johnson. The experience I have had there has taught me numerous things, and the relationships I've built with my students has brought me great joy.
I strive for patience and understanding in everything I do.
"The first principal of aid is respect." -Ernesto Sirolli. I believe respect should be a founding block in everything we do.
